island call story

ISLAND CALL

I heard the island call from many miles away
Come visit, join my dance, it seemed to say.
With beating heart I caught the train
And on to boat and then a train again
Until at last I felt an uplift in my heart
And I became a part of this special place.

Wild blue grey pulsing sea
Haunts my dreams creatively
Dancing the devil’s teasing dervish
My heart beats enticed and called
It’s wild fury beckons me
Bones feel the reckless race
Of tide’s turbulent tease.

Let your words tread lightly
No sound or shape, traced
Unspoken pattern of peace
Lifts dull mood and brings grace
To aching sensitivity
Like a patient aneasthetised
Rising only when called.
